To begin the New Year, our Ballinger Clubhouse Bible study group will be sharing a verse from Scripture each week to guide each of us in 2006. Psalm 51:10 and following are life-giving words granting a personal way of re-committing to Jesus Christ.

2005 was tumultuous! Two major surgeries, worsening chronic pain, job loss, going on disability, etc. For many months I was mad at God, feeling I had been cheated. Recovery from a TBI in 1980 was no picnic, as you well know. The breakdown of my shoulders over the past six years just didn’t seem fair. Add to that those losses listed above, and I felt justified in my anger and pulling away from God.

Just a few days ago, desperation began driving me toward God. My heart still felt cold, but as old and new truths filled my mind over time, my heart has begun to thaw.

To help remind me of the verse above, I have taped it to my bathroom mirror at home. Every time I go in, God’s Word is there to remind me of my prayer.

How about you? Is there a current or long-term struggle that has you disbelieving in some way? Jesus loves you enough to stay close by. My prayer is that we can all recognize, ask for, and receive the fullness of God through the workings of His Holy Spirit.
